Daher & Mazurco Prevail in MMBA Doubles

BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS

Abed Daher of Woodhaven and Doug Mazurco of Brownstown teamed up to win the Budweiser Michigan Majors Doubles Championship at Lodge Lanes in Belleville with a 217-193 victory over Dale Strike of Saginaw and Matt Mueller of Bay City.

The Daher/Mazurco team qualified fifth for the stepladder finals and beat three other teams to advance to the championship match. They took home the top prize of $1,300.

Falling to the Daher/Mazurco team were Eddie Grace of Howell and Ken Wyatt of Sterling Heights 278-239; Matt Anderson of Holly and Jeff Edwards of Sterling Heights 237-221; and Jeff Grego of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Bill Kazmierski of Pinconning 230-172.

“It is a thrill to win that first title.” said Daher. “I got lucky, but I’ll take it. This also puts me in the running for Bowler of the Year.”

The Strike/Mueller team received $800, Grego/Kazmierski $700, Anderson/Edwards $600 and Grace/Wyatt $550.

The next MMBA event will be June 18 at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights.
