Bowlers are very generous people

BOWLERS TO VETERANS LINK

Bowlers historically have been very generous and their generosity includes veterans.

The Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL), founded as the Bowlers Victory Legion, was formed in 1942 when the men and women bowlers of America raised over $700,000 for recreational equipment for veterans recovering overseas and at VA Medical Centers stateside.

After World War II the mission of BVL changed from supporting soldiers in war to caring for wounded and disabled soldiers coming home.

Today over $35 million dollars has been raised since BVL’s inception, with over 88 percent of the funds raised directly supporting veteran’s program services.

BVL grants provide arts and crafts programs, music and sports activities, reading materials, board games and much more to boost the spirits of disabled veterans. Programs are in 155 VA Medical Centers, 209 Vet Centers and 133 State Veterans Homes.

BVL sponsors tours of the entertainment group “Re-Creation”, which performs at the facilities.

To get involved with the BVL program contact the Metro Detroit USBC Association at (248) 443-2695 or visit
