USBC PRESIDENT RESIGNS

Jim Sturm has stepped down as United States Bowling Congress President and from the USBC Board of Directors after accepting the newly created position of Executive Director of Bowling Operations for the Tri-Properties Hotel and Casino group in Reno, Nev.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to join a team dedicated to renovating the National Bowling Stadium in Reno for future generations,” Sturm said. “I felt stepping aside was necessary to avoid any appearance of a potential conflict and for the protection of USBC.”

Earlier, as reported in the January issue of BJI, Sturm said he saw no conflict and intended to stay on as USBC President. His new role will be to bring corporate groups and conventions that have an affinity toward bowling to Reno and the Tri-Properties. He also will run a training academy in Reno, using USBC coaching and development programs.

The USBC Board of Directors will meet on Jan. 28, and will take action to select a president for the remainder of the term that ends on July 31.
