Krajenke and Finley Head Senior All-City Teams

ALL CITY TEAMS 


The Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) has named their senior All City teams for the 2010-11 season. 


The teams include senior men’s and senior women’s teams based on tournament and league performance from June 1, 2010 through May 31, 2011. A complete list of criteria is available upon request. 


Captaining the senior men’s All-City team is Joseph Krajenke of Clinton Township with 73 points. He was 13th in the MDUSBC Senior Masters, 14th in the MDUSBC Masters, fourth senior from MDUSBC in the Michigan State Senior Masters, was sixth among seniors in the MDUSBC All-Events, third among MDUSBC seniors in the Michigan State Doubles with Kerry Kreft, seventh among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles and seventh among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events. He had three 300 games, one 299 game, two 800 series with 836 high and a high average of 211. This is his second senior all-city selection. 


The senior men’s first team was completed with Mitchell Jabczenski Sr. of Novi (72), Edwin Austreng of Waterford Township (62), Fred McClain of Allen Park (57), Charles Graddick Jr. of Detroit (56) and Edward Mintz of Canton (56). Newcomer Mintz was joined by veterans McClain (8th), Jabczenski (7th), Austreng (5th) and Graddick (3rd). 


Jabczenski was third among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles, first among MDUSBC senior in Michigan State All-Events and first among MDUSBC seniors in USBC Doubles. He had three 300 games, three 299 games and a high average of 224. 


Austreng was third among seniors in MDUSBC Doubles with Eric Tulley, 10th among seniors in MDUSBC Singles and ninth among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events. He recorded three 300 games, four 800 series with 838 high and a high average of 230. 


McClain was first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles, had six 300 games, two 800 series with 843 high and a high average of 225. 


Graddick recorded seven 300 games, two 299 games, five 800 series with 814 high and a high average of 234. 


Mintz had four 300 games, one 299 game, five 800 series with 847 high and a high average of 238. 


Lawrence Richardson Sr. of Southfield (54), Jimmy Magolan of Shelby Township (51), Rick Vittone of Tecumseh, Ontario (50), Richard Gregor of Sterling Heights (49) and Larry Franz of Redford (45½) round out the senior men’s second team. Magolan is making his third appearance, Richardson and Franz their second and Vittone and Gregor their rookie appearance. 


Gwendolyn Finley of Detroit, with 39 points, is the captain of the senior women’s All-City team. She was second in the MDUSBC Senior Queens, third among seniors in the MDUSBC Singles, fourth among seniors in the MDUSBC All-Events. This is her fifth appearance on the team and had a high game of 290, high series of 703 and a high average of 211. 


Karen Whitmore of Detroit (36), Kim Baldwin of Redford (34), Jeanne Gebbia of Dearborn (32), Suzanne Hyvonen of St. Clair Shores (28) and Susan Szachta of Warren (28) completed the senior women’s first team. First timers were Baldwin and Gebbia. Szachta was named for the fifth time, Whitmore her third and Hyvonen her second. 


Whitmore was sixth in the MDUSBC Senior Queens, first among seniors in the MDUSBC Singles, second among seniors in the MDUSBC All-Events and 10th among MDUSBC seniors in the Michigan State Doubles with Danielle Bradley. She had a high game of 278, two series over 700 with a 728 high and a high average of 205. 


Baldwin was third in the MDUSBC Senior Queens, sixth among seniors in the MDUSBC Doubles with Pamela Parker, sixth among seniors in the MDUSBC Singles and first among seniors in the MDUSBC All-Events. She had a high game of 290 and high series of 729. 


Gebbia makes the team as a result of being second among MDUSBC seniors in the Michigan State Doubles with Colleen Asel and first among MDUSBC seniors in the Michigan State All-Events. She had a high series of 702 and a high average of 209. 


Hyvonen was first among MDUSBC seniors in the Michigan State Doubles with Carolyn Wilson an second among MDUSBC seniors in the Michigan State Singles. Her high series was 721. 


Szachta won the MDUSBC Senior Queens and was seventh among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events. She had a high average of 207, high game of 287 and three series over 700 with a 744 high. 


Denise Gunter of Ferndale (27½), Patricia Gibson of Washington (27), Consuelo Cleveland of Ferndale (25), Valorie Dunlap of Rochester Hills (24) and Susan Labiak of Utica (24) achieved senior women’s second team status. Labiak is appearing for the second time, while Gunter, Gibson, Cleveland and Dunlap earned the honor for the first time. 


Points are tabulated on performance in the local, state and national tournaments; honor scores and league averages.
