BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS

Dale Hofmeister of Essexville became the all-time leading Budweiser Michigan Majors titleholder with a 234-203 triumph over defending champion Craig Nidiffer of Monroe at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing.

Hofmeister was the top seed for the stepladder finals after averaging 251 for nine games. He took home $1,000 in winning his 16th MMBA title.

Hofmeister had finished second three times earlier in the year in an effort to break the tie for the most titles that he held with Dick Beattie. He also is the all-time leading money winner with $60,775.

“It just feels great not to finish second.”, said Hofmeister.

Nidiffer earlier had defeated Troy Stus of South Lyon 248-233 and Jason Rasinski of Dimondale 300-200 en route to the championship match. Nidiffer settled for $600.

The stepladder finals began with Stus beating Ken Wyatt of Sterling Heights 247-243.

Rasinski took home $500, Stus $400 and Wyatt $300.

Justin Crosby of Holly paced the 69 entries with a six-game total of 1,500. He earned $230.

The only other Oakland County casher was Matt Anderson of Holly for $200.

D.J. Hochstein of White Lake and Joe Manor of Lansing have been elected into the MMBA Hall of Fame. Both will be inducted on Nov. 20 at the annual banquet at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights.
